Huntly Team Victorious in Extrication Challenge |
| On Saturday 4 April 2009, two teams from Banchory and Huntly travelled to Fort William to compete in the first Highlands and Islands v Grampian road traffic collision Extrication Challenge. The event saw the Grampian teams battle for the honours against Highlands and Islands two top teams from last year, Ness and Benbecula. Each team were given twenty minutes to deal with a realistic road traffic collision scenario in which they had to rescue a casualty to the satisfaction of the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation, (UKRO), judging panel. In the closely fought contest which tested the skills and expertise of all the teams, Huntly emerged as winners. In the Highlands and Islands team event, of the ten teams competing, the hosts Fort William came out on top. The picture shows the victorious Huntly team, from left to right Anthony Mitchell (Tech 1), Trevor Ramsay (Tech 3), Roy Cruickshank (Tech 2), Ronnie Mitchell (Incident Commander), Mark Allan (Reserve), Craig Bowden (Medic). |
