Retained Duty System (RDS) Firefighters are invaluable to their communities, providing a fire and rescue service all day every day on an ‘on call’ basis. We are currently recruiting for our RDS fire stations throughout the Grampian area, and are looking for men and women who can work in a team and have good communication and interpersonal skills. In return, you will receive an annual retaining fee of up to £2786, in addition to an hourly rate of up to £12.72 when called out and for performing other role related duties. You must be able to get to the station within 5 – 7 minutes of being alerted, and will be expected to undertake training one evening a week, and carry out further training on an occasional basis. The number of emergency calls you attend will vary from several per week to none at all, depending on the fire station. You will also from time-to-time be involved in local community education work. Many of our RDS Firefighters are in full time employment and respond to calls either from their home or place of work, with the full support of their employers. If you feel you have the attitude and commitment to join our team, please download an application pack. Alternatively contact our Recruitment Hotline (24 hours) on 01224 788700. Grampian Fire and Rescue Service is an Equal Opportunities employer and welcomes applications from men and women who can fulfill the requirements for the role, irrespective of their race or ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability or age.
